Looking for an entry-level person with data entry experience for a short-term (less than one-month) project. We have a dataset with approximately 1500 written summaries of news articles that average about 100 words each. We’re looking for someone to read each summary and hand-code it into a variety of categories, such as counting how many distinct pieces of information are included in the summary, recording whether the summary contains any bias toward Republicans or Democrats, whether the summary contains calls to action, and whether the summary contains any false information. We’d also like someone to complete the same coding for two news articles.
Detailed coding instructions on the categories, including examples, will be provided, but questions are welcome. I will provide an Excel file where each row is a summary and each column reflects a variable that we need coded. Coding can be entered directly into the Excel sheet.
The summaries are all written in English, so English proficiency is required. Basic knowledge of American politics is preferred (e.g., enough to detect whether a statement favors Republicans or Democrats within the context of immigration and environmental policy), but advanced knowledge or interest is not necessary.
Final Deliverables:
– Completed Excel spreadsheet with coding entered
I would ideally like the work completed by April 10, 2022, but the sooner the better.
